Process Group Project

My group made cut outs for our project, we decided to make 3 pieces each and each piece represented some part of nature and my pieces represent the ocean therefore I did cut outs of waves.
Cut Outs
Cut outs were done by getting a image of a wave to stick on the piece of cardboard paper, once the image was glued on the piece of cardboard I would start placing more images around the cardboard, also spray on glue was used for this process. Once everything was stuck on I would start cutting lines out based on the image, the tool I used were a scalpel, the image was only used for the outline of the image all the details were done free handed and this process was repeated for each piece.
Background
The background was designed with water colours, this was done by using water and liquid based water colour. Water is placed on the page depending on where I want colour and then I drip patches of ink into the pool of waters on the page, this gives it some sort of effect and blowing the ink out is also played with to create more patterns, also after that dries more paint is added on the page for more detail and this is mostly blue and white colours. This is also repeated through out each piece done.
Final Piece
The group did a final piece, this was a cut out of a circle which was used as a stencil  for a cut out from each of our pieces. Colour was added with water colour with a paint bush to paint over the stencil to create a image on the circle cut out and then this was framed for a more clean look.
Hanging
The process of hanging our work was very experimental as we tried many ways to hang our work to see what worked out best. The first time we hanged our work we decided to hang them crooked down in a straight line and this wasn’t a very appealing look at the end, we thought it looked like a mess and then we ended up deciding to hang them straight and three on each side, after doing this we sticked with this placement as it looked the best.
PROS AND CONS
The end results were good because its how we wanted views to see our project however we had trouble with the hanging process as working through out hanging our work we didn’t have the tools we needed to hang our work to the ceiling, also we were originally suppose to use screws for the ceiling to help hold our work to the ceiling however this did not go as planned because they did not go through the ceiling, we ended up tucking strings holding the working up to the boards of the ceiling and we also and trouble getting the pieces to look straight but in the end achieved this with team work.

Concluding what I’ve learnt

fthe-10-biggest-dangers-posed-by-future-technology-4.jpgfig1. the 10 biggest dangers posed by future technology (whittaker, 2015)
Through out creative technology perspective I have learnt about multiple tops like perspective futurists, technological realities, the future content, art and technology, the work of the future, mobile software, multimedia, visual language, artificial intelligence, interactive design, and also tech and media. All these topics related to technology, design or trends which was really interesting to learnt about as a student studying in the creative field and this is because in each topic discussed I learnt about whats trending today and a possibility of the topic talked about trending in the future for example technology used in art to create pieces that are interactive are getting more trendy then modern art and finding out about this gives us a chance of choosing to work with the technology side of art to create art that the youth wants to see and to keep up with the trends coming our way. Another subject I learnt about is parts of technology that are developing and changing with us, which might not be good as it sounds for example in visual language emojis are starting to take over text or technology like robots are developing to do our jobs and take over careers and from all of this we can see that human kind has become to depending on technology and I like as the youth it is our jobs as creative students to make people see this and expand on ideas to prevent the dangerous side of technology evolving in our creative practice in the future as these things impacts our future too.

perspective Summit (group 1 web and media)

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1wpw5OUr-GgIUwN_Vp1cA3cUCfN2Vu46uscABQeALD44/edit?usp=sharing

As I was researching about web and media in technology I learnt that technology is an idea that works with creating media content, storying content, and transferring content and it is also used in the creative career field. while researching about technology in web and media I also noticed that technology is a wide known meaning and there were different meanings to understand the meaning and different ways. I learnt that media is communication used on the internet and web is a system on the internet used for linking information together word wide. I learnt the most on the meanings of media and web as this was my part of the research.

Perspective Summit

The three technologies that had the most impact on me in perspective summit are visual language, artificial intelligence and interactive design. The other topics also discussed about were web and media, Mobile software, and multimedia.
visual language was the most impressive topic talked about for me because I learnt that visual language is taking over text and writing, that currently there is a book getting created with emoji to communicate with the reader rather then text, I don’t feel impressed by the idea of emojis replacing text however it is interesting how visual has evolved from being used in social media and text messages to something more, this shows that it influences us quite a lot as it is something used in technology and this is something we face everyday and this also makes me think about the possibility of the human race not using text to communicate with but with symbols and images. Other reason why I found visual language a impressive topic was because of how it is used in the creative industries, adobe suite is one of the many software programs used to produce works for visual language. Other impressive fact is that visual language is currently being studied to be used in VR, the reason for this is so it can be used for deaf people to help with communication, this will allow them to communicate using videos and photos.

The topic about artificial intelligence had a impact on me because I found it the most scariest topic, this is because I learn that there is a possibility of robots taking over our jobs as this is highly possible because they are smarter then us and it is already happening for example currently a AI is able to create scripts and stories, also AI are viewed to be relayed on currently however the options for AI used in the future is still being questioned. AI is not response to human feelings this is one of the reasons why AI is not reliable in the future however they are able to bring brands to consumer expectations and they are able to be friendly to consumers. Another scary fact about this topic is that currently there are AI created to look like a human it also has human memories these subjects are called Bina48 and Sophia.

Interactive design is another topic that impacts me as this might be a technology I’ll use in the future for my creative practice which is graphic design, this is because technology is a big influence to humans today and Interactive design has a big influence with technology as it is about creating some kind of access for users to interact with the design and I think it would be interesting to use graphic design to interact with the viewer’s because it is important to let the view experience a design in many different ways. Interactive design is also a big part in design on the web as it is used to create websites and applications this is another reason why I’ve consider it to be part of my future creative practice.

In conclusion visual language, artificial intelligence and interactive design has impacts on me in different approaches however it doesn’t just have a impact on me because how what each of these subjects are capable of it has a impact on all of us.

ESSAY ( collection)

18870097_1328714577183091_1522978672_o.jpg
My collection is a range of bracelets I’ve collected from traveling overseas and around New Zealand, the themes going through out my collection are jewellery, individuality, and crafting. Concepts that make it a collection is how the items are all jewellery collected from different location, all are made out of the similar material which is wood and all of these items have a beach appearance.
One of the themes in my collection is “jewellery” this is because the objects in the collection are all jewellery, the bracelet and necklace is made out of materials like wood, strings, and other objects like shells or shark teeth, these types of jewellery are normally sold  in beach areas or surf stores as they are worn by surfers. I choose to collect jewellery like this because of how its hand made, and I like the look how its crafted and also its wearable I find collecting something wearable when traveling as a good way idea to hold memories because each necklace or bracelet holds a different memory from each location. One of my jewellery’s are from Hawaii, this is the object with a shark tooth. The objects like the shark tooth put into jewellery are known for luck during being in the water and the beach, it is suppose to stop sharks from attacking you “symbol of protection, shark teeth in jewellery is not taken directly from the shark this is because shark tooth are found in the bottom of the sea from tooth lost and so this is where the teeth are found and also come in different sizes. In Hawaii shark teeth used in jewellery isn’t just s symbol of protection but also is a representation of praising to the sharks this is called “Aumakau” because some sharks are known as gods (Kiley, 2015). The shark tooth in the jewellery is quite interesting for me and important as am I am taking a part of Hawaii back with me. Other locations that I’ve got my jewellery from is Fiji, Waiheke Island and Bay of islands.
Individuality is another theme in my collection, I’ve chosen this as one of my themes because each object has a individual meaning from a memory “memento” however not all my objects are from travelling some objects are also given by a close friend “keepsake”. The jewellery from Hawaii is important to me because it was my first time travelling there, It was a interesting experience for me to be surround by surf culture as this is something I’m interested in and it was astonishing seeing it in real life rather then on social media and I saw also surround by their culture and art. The jewellery from Fiji is important to me because it holds the memory of new experiences, these are going to Fiji for the 1st time, living around the beach and sea for a whole week and also visiting the villages in Fiji and schools this was a important experience for me because I saw the different between with how I live as the villages were a very poor areas and all the kids lived in the school with not much stationary, they also didn’t have clean mattresses to sleep in and this was a eye opening experience for me because the kids didn’t have much but yet they seemed happy. Other object with a important memory is my bracelet with the Rastafarian colours, this was given by a friend and it holds a memory of a music festival surround by reggae music and an Rastafarian influence and the rest of my jewellery are memories of new surrounds from road trips. The idea of the memories hold in the objects almost make it look like a collection of memories instead of a collection of jewellery.
Craft is another theme associated into my collection, this is because all these objects are Crafted. During time some of these objects have broken from getting old and I’ve take in the time to fix them by repainting them and repairing them and this also recreates the jewellery into a new look however this doesn’t change the memory the objects hold and the reason why I’ve collected crafted items is because they’re made out of wood which chips and changes over time which gives the object a interesting texture this goes the same for the shells on the jewellery and natural media gives the objects raw look, I also like how the jewellery has hand craft patterns crafted into it, I find this interesting  it takes a lot of time, hard work, and focusing to be created . Crafting is also a movement related to art which is a interest I have, this is one of the reasons why I choose to collect crafted jewellery. My collection of jewellery’s are mostly craft by oceans or beach’s, this is something important in my collection as the beach culture is something I take interest in and the surrounding of where I collect my object is also Important to me as this is part of the memory being hold on with it. The Craft jewellery’s all have neutral colours, this is because I don’t want the object to be about the look as much as the memory it holds, I think the idea of collecting crafted jewellery is a good idea as it is something you can remake yourself as well with found objects. As for repairing the jewellery I also create my own jewellery with crafting with found objects or objects from old jewellery, I then make it into something new and is add to my collection.
We can come to say that my collection are objects that are personal to me which carry personal experience and memories, carry out the theme of jewellery, individuality, and crafting. The concept that makes my objects a collection is the memories collected with the jewellery and the location of the memory, the influence of experience bought along with the object which makes the collection what it is.
